AdkAction and Tupper Lake Central School District take the 2nd Annual “Beyond the Peaks” Student Film Festival Online

AdkAction and Tupper Lake School District are announcing that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are canceling the Beyond the Peaks LIVE event. Instead, we will still be accepting film submissions on the original digital platform with a new deadline of June 8, 2020.

In an attempt to offer a fun and creative outlet to Adirondack middle and high school students who are learning from home, we are encouraging students to film their experiences during this crisis and submit these films to one of the film categories in the festival. Films on other topics will be accepted as well.  We hope that this will be a welcomed creative outlet for students while remaining safely at home. Notably, graduating seniors are especially encouraged to apply and will be welcomed back next year to be recognized at our 2021 Beyond the Peaks Festival.

After the film submission deadline of June 8, 2020, films will be judged and prize packages will be mailed out to the winning filmmakers from each category. Prize packages and trophies have already been donated and include awesome audio and video equipment for the students.

Submission details and tutorials can be found at: https://beyondthepeaks.skills21.org

Participation is open to all middle school and high school-aged youth in the Adirondack Region. This years’ festival is sponsored by Lake Placid Institute and organized by AdkAction and Tupper Lake Central School District.

Interested teachers, administrators, students, and parents are encouraged to visit https://adkaction.org/filmfest to learn more and sign up.  Questions? Reach out to Wendy Cross, [email protected], or Brittany Christenson at [email protected] for more information.
