The goal of the Adirondack Compost for Good project is to help Adirondack communities turn food and other organic “wastes” into high-quality compost. This process keeps nutrients in the community, which builds local resilience, heals soils, and helps reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
Plein air, or outdoor painting, festivals have the unique ability to showcase the natural and built assets of a community. We sponsor Adirondack Plein Air Festival, and we are co-founders of Keeseville Plein Air Festival and the brand new Tupper Lake Plein Air Festival.
We were introduced to Plein Air festivals in 2016 when we became a major sponsor of ArtWorks’ Adirondack Plein Air Festival in Saranac Lake. We so enjoyed being involved that we asked the organizer, Sandra Hildreth, to coach us through the process of starting a new festival in Keeseville, NY, where our Community Revitalization project is currently focused.
Years later, we continue to support Adirondack Plein Air Festival by sponsoring the Special Preview Party, People’s Choice Award, and Founder’s Award. Our very own Keeseville Plein Air Festival has sold $22,432 worth of local art since 2017 and continues to be an indispensable summer arts event in the sleepy hamlet.
In 2018, we began working with Tupper Arts to organize and co-host a third Plein Air Festival during the world-renowned Adirondack leaf-peeping season. We hope that this festival will bring energy and vitality to downtown Tupper Lake and create additional opportunities for artists to sell their work and highlight the incredible beauty of the area.
More information on each of these festivals is available below. If you are interested in being a host, volunteer, or sponsor for Keeseville Plein Air Festival, please sign up here.
