Pollinator-Friendly Native Plant Sale Pre-Orders Now Open

Each spring in the Adirondacks, pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds return to a landscape that doesn’t always have the habitat they need. Across the region, these species are facing declines due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and disease. Planting native species is one of the simplest ways to help.

That idea is at the core of the Adirondack Pollinator Project’s annual Native Plant Sale, which is now open for pre-orders. Plants can be picked up on Saturday, June 6 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Uihlein Farm Greenhouse (281 Bear Cub Road) in Lake Placid. A Pollinator Festival will take place that morning until noon, with activities and learning opportunities for all ages.

This year’s sale includes 15 varieties of native flowering plants chosen for their value to pollinators in New York and their ability to provide blooms throughout the growing season. All plants are grown or sourced without neonicotinoids, which are harmful to pollinators. Pre-ordering is encouraged to make sure the plants you want are available, though some will be sold at the festival as well. Pickup can also be arranged within two weeks of the event if needed.

For those getting started or looking to expand, garden bundles make it easy to plan. Options include shade gardens, meadow plantings, hummingbird habitats, and woodland edges. A custom Northern New York seed mix is also available by pre-order in limited quantities.

More than just a plant sale, this event is part of a larger effort to support pollinators and build more native habitat across the Adirondacks. Even small plantings can make a difference. Place your order today here!
