Product Details
Echinacea purpurea
Water: Dry to medium
Ideal Light: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, sandy or richer soils.
Height: 2 - 5 feet
Bloom time: Summer
Pollinator Benefits: A wide range of bees including honey bees, native bees, and leafcutter bees collect nectar and pollen from purple coneflowers. Many different species of butterflies including monarchs, tiger swallowtails, skippers, American ladies, red admirals, and fritillaries will also feed on the nectar.
Care: Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years). Plants usually rebloom without deadheading, however prompt removal of spent flowers improves general appearance. Freely self-seeds if at least some of the seed heads are left in place.
