Library Buzz
Adirondack Pollinator Project Library Buzz Program
There are many threats to pollinators in the Adirondacks, including habitat loss and fragmentation, pesticide use, climate change, and disease. AdkAction’s Adirondack Pollinator Project is offering free Pollinator Resource Kits to libraries across the region, to empower both area residents and visitors to become informed pollinator advocates and take action to reverse these trends.
Each participating library will receive a Pollinator Kit containing a variety of educational resources for children and adults, including pollinator-focused books, posters, native wildflower seed packets, kids activities, fact sheets, quizzes, word searches and puzzles, pollinator guides, links to additional online resources, and other materials.
Kits will be distributed before Pollinator Week, an annual celebration in support of pollinator health and a time to raise awareness for pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. Pollinator Week 2023 will take place from June 19-25, and AdkAction will offer assistance to libraries in planning Pollinator Week events using the materials in their resource kits.
Fifteen libraries will be selected to receive Pollinator Kits in this first year of the program. To be eligible, libraries must be located in the Greater Adirondack Region (Southern Adirondack Library System, Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System, or Mid York Library System) and need to fill out the short interest form below. Signing up does not guarantee selection, but libraries that complete the form early will be given preference. Recipients will be notified in early 2023, and all libraries will be able to access digital versions of any printable handouts included.
Thank you to the Pearsall Foundation for providing funding in support of this project.
