For fifteen years, AdkAction has tackled the Adirondacks’ most pressing challenges with creative, actionable, community-driven solutions. Our work is guided by two strong pillars: Community Development and Ecosystem Conservation. These connected focus areas ensure that every challenge we solve—whether it’s increasing food security, restoring pollinator habitat, or advocating for clean water—contributes to a better Adirondacks for people and nature alike.

each step forward opens a wider view
AdkAction excels at expanding successful ideas into transformational change.
We started by distributing free native seed packets, one at a time. Now, we’re restoring an entire capped landfill into a thriving pollinator habitat—a project that could serve as a model for more than 100 capped landfills across the region, transforming underutilized spaces into vital ecosystems.
We launched emergency food packages during the pandemic. Now, we’ve built a stronger regional food system, ensuring no North Country farmer has to close and no family goes hungry.
We partnered with towns to reduce road salt pollution. Now, we’re working to make the Adirondacks the place that will solve this crisis for good.
We piloted community composting. Now, we are pursuing a future where town transfer stations have full-service composting facilities, closing the loop on food waste.
