This spring, we launched Nourishing North Country Families—a brand-new initiative pairing locally sourced CSA food boxes with virtual cooking classes for 30 WIC (Women, Infants, Children) families.
Each week for ten weeks, participating families will receive a curated box of seasonal produce from Whitten Family Farm, delivered via the ADK Food Hub. Alongside these boxes, families will join interactive online classes led by Chef Cathy Hohmeyer of Lake Clear Lodge and Nature Connects, designed to build cooking confidence and make healthy, local eating more approachable.
With simple techniques and accessible ingredients, the program supports early childhood nutrition while helping families stretch their food dollars, reduce waste, and foster a deeper connection to local farms.
This collaboration is part of our growing effort to nourish not only families—but also our regional food system.
