New Program to Support Adirondack Grocers

AdkAction has been awarded a grant through Adirondack Foundation’s Generous Acts program to launch a new initiative supporting rural grocery stores across the Adirondack Park.

Through this new Rural Grocery Microgrant Program, AdkAction will provide direct infrastructure funding to four to eight existing small businesses. These grants will help address some of the unique challenges facing rural grocers—challenges that impact access to fresh, local food in our most remote communities. Small investments in refrigeration units, cold storage, mini splits, and other operational improvements can make a big difference in helping these essential businesses succeed year-round.

Strengthening rural grocery stores is a critical step toward our goal to build long-term food security and economic resilience in the Adirondacks.
