Volunteer Registration Form

What if a single morning could help transform an entire landscape?

On June 20, you are invited to be part of something BIG. Join us for a community-powered effort to plant 5,500 native plants at the Indian Lake capped landfill site. Together, up to 150 volunteers will turn this underutilized space into a thriving habitat for bees, butterflies, and other essential pollinators.

This is more than a planting day. It is the start of a long-term restoration effort that will benefit the Adirondacks for years to come. Every plant you put in the ground contributes to healthier ecosystems, stronger biodiversity, and a more resilient future.

It is also a chance to enjoy the simple, satisfying fun of working side by side with others who care about this place. Expect a lively, collaborative atmosphere as volunteers from across the region come together, get their hands in the soil, and see the progress unfold in real time. There is something special about looking across a field and knowing you helped create it, together.

Garden clubs, community groups, and organizations are encouraged to join as teams. Bringing a group is a great way to share the experience and make an even bigger impact. If you would like to register as a group, please reach out to [email protected].

No experience is needed. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or trying this for the first time, you will be part of a welcoming, hands-on effort where everyone plays a role.

What to Expect
We will provide all the tools and plants. Volunteers will work together using hand tools to plant plugs across the site. This is a rain or shine event, and we will keep going until all plants are in the ground.

What to Bring
Dress for the weather and outdoor conditions. Please bring:

  • A water bottle
  • Gardening gloves if you have them
  • A trowel or hand tools if you prefer to use your own
  • A kneeling pad if you would like one
  • Sunscreen and bug spray

Want to Do Even More?
We are also looking for early morning volunteers coming from the Lake Placid are to help transport plant trays from the Uihlein Greenhouse on Bear Cub Road to Indian Lake between 7:00 and 8:30 AM. Let us know on the form if you’re interested in this role.

Stay Connected
This planting day is just the beginning. The Town of Indian Lake is forming a volunteer group, Friends of the Indian Lake Pollinator Project, to support ongoing care of the site. Join us and be part of the long-term vision.

Come get your hands dirty, meet great people, and leave knowing you helped create something lasting.

Make a day of it in Indian Lake by staying for the afternoon Monarch Festival!
