A Day of Action is Coming to Tupper Lake

This summer, AdkAction is celebrating 15 years of bringing people together to take on challenges across the Adirondacks. To mark the occasion, we’re trying something new and rooted in a familiar idea: a community work bee.

On Saturday, August 8, we’ll gather in Tupper Lake for AdkAction’s first-ever Day of Action, a hands-on day where volunteers come together to complete a series of meaningful, community-driven projects.

The concept is simple. Start the day together, head out to work on projects across the community, and come back to reconnect and celebrate what was accomplished. It’s a chance to spend a day outside, meet new people, and contribute to visible, tangible improvements in a place that so many care about.

Tupper Lake will help shape what this day looks like. A local steering committee is working with AdkAction to identify projects that reflect real needs and opportunities in the community. That means the work may take many forms, from improving shared spaces to supporting local initiatives that make everyday life a little better. What matters most is that the projects are based in local knowledge and designed to make an immediate impact.

We’re planning for a large, welcoming group that includes year-round residents, seasonal community members, and people from across the Adirondacks. Whether you’re someone who likes to dig in, build, plant, paint, organize, or simply be part of a team effort, there will be a place for you.

The Day of Action will also take the place of AdkAction’s Annual Meeting this year. Instead of gathering in a meeting room, we’re choosing to spend the day doing what we do best: working alongside others, testing ideas, and learning by doing. It’s a reflection of how AdkAction approaches its work every day, with a focus on collaboration, creativity, and action.

We’re still finalizing project details and logistics, and we’ll share more soon, including how to sign up. In the meantime, save the date and start thinking about who you might want to bring along.

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of something hands-on, hopeful, and community-driven, we hope you’ll join us in Tupper Lake.
