We have 185 elected councils, boards, and other municipal government agencies in the Adirondacks, serving 132,000 people! Attempts at government consolidation and efficiency improvements have been moving glacially. We believe the many overlapping and duplicate jurisdictions in the Park can be consolidated along the lines recommended in the first Governor Cuomo’s report entitled The Adirondack Park in the Twenty-Century. One of our board member’s OpEd piece on this report and its continuing relevance appeared in the January 2011 issue of the Adirondack Explorer. A copy of the text is available by following this link.
